MICK McCARTHY has said he could tear up his script for Denmark if Troy Parrott rips it up tonight. The teen wonder is bidding to mark his senior debut with a goal, just as he did with the Under-21s.1 Republic of Ireland’s Troy ParrottCredit: SportsfileParrott, 17, will become the third-youngest Ireland international against New Zealand, with Lee O’Connor, 19, also making his debut and Jack Byrne getting a first start.McCarthy previously said he wanted the teenager to start playing for Tottenham before he capped him.But the Ireland boss admitted a couple of goals against the All Whites could change his mind.HUGE CHANCE FOR TROYMcCarthy said: “We’re playing New Zealand in a friendly and it’s a great opportunity for him prior to our biggest game.“I’ve been just asked the question, ‘What happens if he scores two goals? There’ll be a big clamour for him to play’.“Well, I hope he does score two goals and he plays brilliantly and then I’ve a clamour in my own head that he should be part of that squad to play against Denmark.“We need to score, don’t we, against Denmark?“And we haven’t scored that many goals, have we?“And he’s a goalscorer. It might be somebody of his ilk gets that chance and puts it away.”PARROTT FLYING TO THE TOPMcCarthy’s stance has changed due to how close this friendly is to Monday’s Euro 2020 crunch clash with the Danes — for which he could field an entirely different XI.Parrott’s inclusion tonight means he will have played for the Under-17s, Under-19s, Under-21s and senior team all in the space of 18 months. And McCarthy added: “It doesn’t take a special kind to be pitched in at his age, but it takes a special kind to thrive, do well, make a good impression and impress everybody. I hope that’sgoing to be the case with Troy.”That is the player’s plan too after bagging three goals in as many games for Stephen Kenny’s Under-21 side.RELISHING THE OPPORTUNITYParrott said: “For me, it’s about scoring goals. It’s what I want to do, I’m not planning on stopping now.“Coming in here is a huge achievement for me and the first few days of training have been good.“I just try and keep doing well whenever I play and whenever I’m training and luckily enough the opportunity has come about. Hopefully I’m able to take it with both hands.“To play for Ireland, no matter what age you are, is an unbelievable achievement. I just can’t wait to get out there.”MOST READ IN SPORTTHROUGH ITRobbie Keane reveals Claudine’s father was ’50-50′ in coronavirus battle’I ACCEPT’McGregor accepts Silva fight at UFC catchweight of 176lbs in huge super-fightTOP SELLERGavin Whelan has gone from League of Ireland to David Beckham’s InstagramPicturedA CUT ABOVEMike Tyson shows two-inch cut ‘picked up in training’ ahead of boxing returnExclusiveRIYAD RAIDMan City’s Riyad Mahrez has three luxury watches stolen in £500,000 raidPicturedAN EYEFULMeet Playboy model and football agent Anamaria Prodan bidding to buy her own clubMcCarthy has stressed to him not to try too hard.Parrott added: “He has told me to enjoy myself and don’t feel like I need to do anything that I don’t do at club level, to keep doing what I have been doing because that’s what has got me here.”Robbie Brady will start with McCarthy admitting an early withdrawal would suggest he had done enough to feature against the Danes.
