first_imgCategories: Letters to the Editor, OpinionI have a question for Rep. John Faso, who when running for Congress in 2016 spoke of living the American dream. The Constitution Pipeline, who paid you very well in your days as a lobbyist, was denied the water permits by New York state to proceed with their unneeded pipeline. We both were born and raised in New York and we both chose to stay in New York to raise our children and live that American dream. Last August, a federal appeals court upheld New York’s rejection of this unnecessary pipeline. Then in October, a federal court refused to grant the Constitution Pipeline a rehearing on that rejection. Now just last week, FERC rejected Constitution Pipeline’s petition to overturn New York’s ruling. Mr. Faso, I will never forget that it was the company you worked for that badgered and harassed my family for years because of our refusal to give them a piece of our land. This little piece of land that my wife and I worked very hard to acquire in Schoharie County is special to our family and is filled with many memories. Mr. Faso, our American dream never included having a piece of our land confiscated from us to bury a 30-inch natural gas pipeline. We refused the measly one-time payment for the piece of our land that was needed for this unwanted (my opinion) pipeline. As you well know, we were then sued and taken to court. Now some big corporation owns a piece of our land and has most certainly disrupted our American dream. There are many other families who have gone through the same ordeal as we have. This has been going on for about four years now. Time and time again, Constitution has been stopped, blocked and told no. Now back to my question Rep. Faso: Can we have our land back now? Jerry FioreSummit More from The Daily Gazette:EDITORIAL: Urgent: Today is the last day to complete the censusEDITORIAL: Thruway tax unfair to working motoristsFoss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen?EDITORIAL: Find a way to get family members into nursing homesEDITORIAL: Beware of voter intimidationlast_img
